The Treasury may, by regulations, provide for the activities of the Independent Police Complaints Commission (formerly the Police Complaints Authority) to be expanded to provide coverage of HMRC's functions in England and Wales1. The IPCC may liaise with the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration, and the two bodies may jointly investigate matters falling within their remit2.
Regulations came into force, for the most part, on 28 December 20053.
