9.1ÌýÌýÌýÌý Employment law in Austria
Posted worker directive
As a member of the EU, Austria is subject to the Posted Worker Directive, which broadly means that a foreign worker from another member state must be entitled to the same employment law including collective bargain agreements) as domestic employees.
The directive has been adopted by domestic legislation in the Employment Contract Law Adaption Act which extends the principle to foreign workers posted to Austria who do not come from a member state.
Collective bargaining agreements are commonplace in Austria and are regulated by the ARBVG (Landarbeitsgesetz). They can be found at WKO organised according to industry.
