The basic employment law in Luxembourg is in the Work Code (Code de Travail), which sets out the employment conditions for all blue collar workers and some white collar workers, as fixed by Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs). The domestic law is overseen by the labour inspectors of the Inspection du Travail et des Mines (ITM).
The Work Code sets out the minimum terms and conditions of an employment. CBAs have the power of law within an industry, so they can directly impact on payroll (one example being the compulsory payment of employee overtime premiums).
