Luxembourg has a maximum working week of 40 hours and a maximum working day of eight hours, for base hours. Any exceeding hours (per day and/or per week) constitute overtime. Overtime is paid at a compulsory 40% premium, with additional premiums for working at night, on Sunday or at public holiday. The maximum increases the working week to 48 hours or ten hours daily and must be planned in advance (as an overtime declaration must be approved by the ITM and the works council).
