9.4 Sick leave and parental leave

Sick leave

Employees in Luxembourg are entitled to sick leave (see 3.1).

Maternity leave

Paid leave applies for ante-natal appointments. Maternity leave starts eight weeks before the expected birth date and continues for twelve weeks after the birth (an early birth means that any unused pre-birth weeks are added to the postnatal leave).

Post-natal leave can be extended by up to four additional weeks for a premature or multiple birth, or where the mother is breastfeeding.
