Sick leave and pay
In cases of sick leave due to illnesses unrelated to the work, the Spanish social security system does not provide any coverage for the first three days. From the fourth day of sick leave, according to the law, the employee is only entitled to receive a temporary disability pension.
The amount of the social security temporary disability pension for employees is:

•ÌýÌýÌýÌý 60% of the employee's social security regulatory base which is calculated according to the social security contribution base from the fourth to the 20th day of sick leave, and
- Ìý
•ÌýÌýÌýÌý 75% of the employee's regulatory base from the 21st day to the date of recovery or through the date the temporary disability becomes a permanent disability
From the fourth to the 15th day of sick leave, even though the 60% payment is considered a social security benefit, the employer is required to bear the costs.
