Most buyers find a property for sale in France through an estate agent (www.economie.gouv.fr/dgccrf/Publications/Vie-pratique/Fiches-pratiques/Agent-immobilier). Estate agents must be professionally registered with one of the following official bodies: FNAIM, SNPI, UNPI or CNAB.
According to the Law of 2 January 1970 (known as the Loi Hoguet), there must be at least one person in the office holding a 'carte professionelle'
