UK3.5.2 Employing minor children in the UK

Usually, a child cannot work part-time until the age of 13 and restrictions apply to the type of work, number of hours and the times that the child can work. The employer may need a permit to employ children. Children under the age of 16 are not entitled to the UK national minimum wage (National Minimum Wage Act 1998, s 1(2)(c)).
