3.3 Vacation pay

Canada

Vacation pay is paid to an employee during their time off from work for annual leave. The rules are governed by the Canada Labour Code (ie Canada Labour Standards Regulations), which applies to most federally regulated employers in Canada.

Some industries have employment standards regulated by a Provincial/Territorial Ministry of Labour (see List of federally regulated industries and workplaces). In Québec this is the CNESST. In Ontario details can be found at Ontario.ca. Rules in British Columbia rely on the BC Employment Standard Act with guidance available at BC.ca
