2.2.1 Colombian social security system

Colombia

In Colombia, the social security is a constitutional right enshrined in Politic Constitution of 1991, Art 48 as follows:

''Social security is a compulsory public service that will be provided under the direction, coordination and control of the State, subject to the principles of efficiency, universality and solidarity, in the terms established by law'.'

The comprehensive social security system is a set of institutions, rules, and procedures, the purpose of which is to improve the quality of life of residents in Colombia by providing comprehensive coverage in health contingencies and economic capacity. The system consists of:

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý occupational risks: illnesses, accidents at work and disability
