3.1ÌýÌýÌýÌý Work absences

Holidays

Pursuant to Costa Rican legislation, holidays must be granted to all employees for national participation, religious, social or historic reasons.

If someone works during holidays, their salary must be doubled for every hour worked.

In Costa Rica, they are two types of holidays:

  1. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý holidays of mandatory payment: 1 January, 11 April, Holy Thursday and Holy Friday, 1 May 1, 25 July 25, 15 September and 25 December

  2. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý holidays of non-mandatory payment: 2 August 2 and 1 December
