3.3 Employee Share Ownership Plans (ESOP)

Jamaica

The Employee Share Ownership Plan Act 1995 and subsequent amendments (which can be accessed via the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) website, provide the legislative basis for

  1. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý employers to award shares/share options to employees, and

  2. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý employees to purchase shares in their employer's business

The shares are tax advantaged because the:

  1. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý award is tax free
