Resident tax
Resident tax is a local tax that levied on foreign residents living and working in Japan. It is administered by the municipality in which the foreign resident lives.
Foreigners must pay resident tax if they:

•ÌýÌýÌýÌý are resident in Japan, and
- Ìý
•ÌýÌýÌýÌý live in Japan at the start of the calendar year
A foreigner who has a house, office, or business place within Japan as of January 1, but does not live in the ward is subject to a per capita levy (rather than an income-based levy).
