9.2 Work visas, work permit and residence permit.

Jordan

Any foreign national entering Jordan must obtain a visa unless they are from a visa-exempt country or can acquire one on arrival. Visas acquired on arrival are considered tourist visas (single-entry, double-entry or multiple-entry for a maximum of six months). However, this visa does not allow a foreigner to stay or work in Jordan. Therefore, a work permit is required to be issued at first and then a residence permit is required.

If the expat is from a country that requires a pre-arrival visa, such a visa can be issued online.

Work permit

Work permits are issued for the foreign employees after obtaining approval from the Ministry of Labour ('MOL'). This approval is obtained if the employer has proved that there is no Jordanian equivalent for the foreign employee's profession or that the number of workers available does not fit the employer's needs.
