9.2 Work visas

New Zealand

Several resources are available for access to help determine a best practise approach to understanding where a work visa is required for New Zealand and, if so, how to go about obtaining the most relevant one.

New Zealand Immigration provides an introduction to the different types of visa available and what may be relevant for each individual case; this includes any changes and updates to the relevant fees and levy charges.

The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment hosts relevant information relating to the application of a visa to enter, work, and live within New Zealand. Their website will assist with determining the most relevant visa to apply for and the process for the application itself.

The New Zealand government website page 'Applying for a work visa' also provides useful information.

Job checks

To obtain a work visa, the employer must first apply for a job check, which must include:

  2. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý an employment agreement

  3. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý the results of any advertising where applicable

  4. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý the Australia and New Zealand Standard
