9.1ÌýÌýÌýÌý The expatriate quota and work permits

Nigeria has an expatriate quota (EQ) for non-ECOWAS citizens that is intended to promote foreign direct Investment into the country and facilitate the employment of highly skilled individuals where there is a shortage of local talent. The policy is designed to promote the transfer of knowledge and technology and encourage the development of qualified Nigerians through the understudy program.

A company that requires the services of a foreign national for long-term employment must apply for EQ approval from the Federal Ministry of the Interior (FMI). On a successful EQ application, the business obtains
