3.1ÌýÌýÌýÌý Leave of absence

Premium pay must be paid to employees who are required to work on:

  1. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý regular holidays

  2. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý rest days (ie scheduled days of no work)

  3. Ìý

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý special holidays

There are 12 regular and four special holidays in the Philippines. Workers who are not required to work on these days are not entitled to any compensation unless there is a voluntary practice or CBA providing otherwise.

Subject to Presidential approval, if a holiday falls on a Wednesday, it is observed on the Monday of the week. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the holiday is observed on the following Monday. Holidays that do not have fixed dates, according to the Gregorian calendar, are announced by the President.
