3.1�� Minimum wage and working hours

Minimum wage regulations in Trinidad and Tobago are provided for in the Minimum Wages Act 1976 Chap 88:04. The minimum wage is TTD 20.50 per hour from 1 January 2024 (TTD 17.50 in 2023), TTD 164 per eight-hour day and TTD 820 per 40-hour week (2024 Budget summary and Legal Notice No 373 and Legal Notice No 390).

Minimum wage workers are entitled to overtime rates, which are expressly determined within the 'Second schedules' in the 'Wages Orders' relevant to the particular industry.
