I7.104 BPR—qualifying conditions

IHT, trusts and estates

BPR is available on relevant business property. Property is relevant business property if it falls into one of the categories set out at I7.103, and also meets the following requirements:

    •ÌýÌýÌýÌý The business carried on must not consist wholly or mainly of dealing in securities, stocks or shares, land or buildings or making or holding investments1. See I7.112 for in depth consideration of these kind of businesses. Exceptions are made for:

    1. Ìý

      –ÌýÌýÌýÌý market makers and discount houses carrying on business in the UK2

    2. Ìý

      –ÌýÌýÌýÌý shares in holding companies where their subsidiaries carry
