B: KEY TERMS AND EXPRESSIONS IN RELATION TO GAMING MACHINES
The meaning given to ‘gaming machine’ in the Gambling Act 2005 is complex. A basic definition is given at the beginning of Part 10 of the Act but that is followed by a long list of exceptions to that definition. Added complexity arises when this is followed by some exceptions to the exceptions.
The Act’s basic definition of ‘gaming machine’ is a machine which is designed or adapted for use by individuals to gamble (whether or not it can be used for other purposes)1. However, this meaning is subject to the following exceptions.
