1ÌýÌýÌýÌý Citation, commencement and extent

(1)ÌýÌýÌýÌý These Regulations may be cited as the Working Time Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 1st October 1998.

(2)ÌýÌýÌýÌý These Regulations extend to Great Britain only.

General

These Regulations were for the purpose of implementing the Working Time Directive 93/104/EC (now consolidated as Directive 2003/88/EC), and certain provisions of the Young Workers Directive 94/33/EC (relating to persons between 15 and 18 who are over compulsory school age; provisions in the Directive relating to children were implemented in the Children (Protection at Work) Regulations 1998 SI 1998/276, which are not included in this work).
